The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a vast landscape of heroes, but one potential hero has been missing in action: Nova. It's been over a decade since the Nova Corps made their live-action debut in Guardians of the Galaxy, yet their presence has remained largely unexplored. This has left fans wondering: who could possibly bring this space-faring hero to life?
In the comics, Richard Rider, a human from Earth, becomes Nova, a powerful member of the Nova Corps after the death of Rhomann Dey. The Nova Corps, a peacekeeping force, has been a key part of Marvel lore.
But here's where it gets interesting: While the Nova Corps have been on the sidelines, there's been intermittent talk of a Nova project. Loki writer Michael Waldron has weighed in on who he thinks would be a great fit for the role: Glen Powell, star of Chad Powers and the upcoming Running Man.
When asked where Powell would fit in the MCU, Waldron's answer was simple: "He'd be a pretty good Nova." Given Powell's acting ability and his upcoming projects, it seems like a perfect fit. It would also be a bit of a dream come true for Powell, who is a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.
And this is the part most people miss: Powell's casting as Nova could be a sort of consolation prize. Fans have long dreamed of seeing him as Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern, but those plans never materialized. Instead, Kyle Chandler will be playing a more seasoned space cop in HBO's upcoming Lanterns series. Could Powell be a great fit for Marvel's answer to Hal Jordan, Richard Rider?
Powell's charisma and acting chops would be a perfect fit for Nova. The Nova Corps could use a hero like him, especially since their home base of Xandar was destroyed by Thanos before Avengers: Infinity War. Powell himself has stated that he hasn't received a call from either DC or Marvel. He has praised Guardians of the Galaxy, which he argues changed how heroes were portrayed in the movies.
What do you think? Would Glen Powell make a good Nova? Do you agree with Waldron's casting choice? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
